The St Mary Marauders dominated the competition on their way to a second consecutive 5A high school senior boys’ volleyball championship.

St Mary posted a 6-0 record, dropping just one set in the process at the provincial tournament in Melfort on Nov. 20.

In the final, St Mary opened an 11-6 lead against Meadow Lake. Meadow Lake fought back forcing a St. Mary timeout trailing 11-10. The game went back and forth, until some strong striking gave the Marauders a lead they would not relinquish. The nail in the coffin was a net violation by Meadow Lake which made the score 24-20. Soon after, a middle strike from Evan Halyk clinched the set by a score of 25-21.

The second set stared with some aggressive serving by St. Mary to give them a 5-1 lead.  Meadow Lake regained their composure with good defense tying it up at five.  But that was a close as Meadow Lake would come. Solid net play carried St Mary to a second set victory, 25-21 and the provincial title.
