Business of the Day: Fabricland

Feb 14, 2013 | 5:50 AM

Fabricland has been a part of the business fabric in Prince Albert for over a decade.

Located at 86 South Industrial Drive, Fabricland offers a full line of fabric products, home décor, sewing machines and just recently added a new yarn department.

“Having a franchise with Fabricland is great because you sort of get the best of both worlds. You get huge buying power, but we can also cater to the local needs, said Barb Reid, who has owned and operated the business since purchasing the franchise in 2001.

“If there is a lot of dance groups that need a lot of sparkly … fabric we make sure we bring it in. If the trend is burlap for weddings than we make sure we have burlap in stock.”

A franchise owner for over 20 years, Reid is a firm believer in the franchise motto Fabric Authority.

“If it has anything to do with fabric, come to us, because we probably got it or know how to get it to you.”

But the business is so much more than fabric. Reid said the heart of their business is customer service.

“Customer service is number one. You can’t just walk in grab fabric and go out the door with it like a quart of milk. You need to have someone to show you what you need,” Reid said.

Whether it’s finding the right fabric for a dress or reupholstering furniture, Read said their knowledgeable staff can offer the right advice to make sure you get the right product.
