Shellbrook care home dealing with second outbreak

Feb 5, 2013 | 2:29 PM

The Parkland Terrace care home in Shellbrook is dealing with its second outbreak in a month.

An outbreak of gastrointestinal illness was declared Tuesday with eight residents having symptoms of an illness suspected to be norovirus.

Visitor restrictions are in place and the facility is asking the public to reschedule visits until the outbreak is declared over.

The 34-bed facility had just finished dealing with a bout of Entero-Rhinovirus — otherwise known as the common cold — a few weeks earlier.
