Officer’s life to be remembered

Dec 22, 2010 | 5:19 AM

A Prince Albert police officer will be laid to rest today. The funeral for Const. Tim Ballantyne will be held at the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Gymnasium at 1 p.m.

Ballantyne was killed Saturday morning when he rolled his vehicle near the city. There is no cause of the accident yet as RCMP are continuing their investigation.

“I knew him to be … a young man with his entire career ahead of him. He only had five years on the force. He was just kind of getting, just getting comfortable in his role,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean who choked up when speaking to the media Tuesday.

“It’s a tragic thing. It’s a sad and tragic thing for any young person to lose their life.”
