Possession charges against McCallum dropped

Nov 14, 2012 | 2:47 PM

Crown prosecutors have dropped drug possession charges against Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Chief Darrell McCallum after he successfully completed mediation.

McCallum was originally charged with possession of marijuana in an amount not exceeding 30 grams on June 3.

In court proceedings the case was sent to mediation. On Nov. 14, the crown had word that McCallum had completed mediation, though details of what was done were not made public.

Because the charges were withdrawn, the facts of the case were not read into the public record.
