SARM delegates asked to endorse bridge for PA

Nov 14, 2012 | 12:31 PM

Saskatchewan farm leaders will be asked to join the effort to lobby senior levels of government to build a new bridge in the Prince Albert region.

The rural municipality of Prince Albert is asking delegates at the Saskatchewan Rural Municipalities Convention (SARM) to endorse the Build A Second Bridge campaign. It was started last March after a cracked girder discovered seven months earlier resulted in lane closures and a weight restriction on the Diefenbaker Bridge – the city's only traffic bridge.

To date the campaign has collected 1500 letters of support and is backed by surrounding municipalities and northern groups.

The resolution is one of 35 being voted on today at TCU Place in Saskatoon.
