Saskatchewan Mountie on suspension

Nov 14, 2012 | 10:31 AM

A member of the RCMP’s Wakaw detachment has been placed on suspension.

A complaint was made last June about his behaviour. This is not a criminal matter, but rather falls under the RCMP's Code of Conduct.

“It was not a public complaint but rather came from within the office,” said Sgt. Paul Dawson.

Dawson said the investigation is still ongoing, so he could not elaborate on what was said about the officer.

“The specifics of the allegations I can't disclose at this time. There has yet to be a determination if there was a violation of that RCMP code,” said Dawson.

He reiterates that the officer has not been charged with anything at this point.

“The investigation is now complete and it’s being reviewed by a senior officer, to determine if there was a violation,” said Dawson.

The officer, who cannot be named, is currently on suspension with pay.

There is no timeline for when a decision will be made.
