Saskatchewan government comes out with child-welfare review

Dec 16, 2010 | 3:06 PM

The Saskatchewan child welfare-review is making twelve recommendations to better protect children.

Titled for the good of our children and youth, the report was released by government Thursday afternoon.

It implies that because of cultural differences there still remains a them versus us approach. Which is why the government is being urged to allow First Nations and Metis groups to have greater control of their own children.

Particularly as the panel finds there are now more aboriginal children in care than there were in residential schools.
