Refreezing a problem on Saskatchewan highways

Refreezing on Saskatchewan's highways continues to be a problem right across the province a day after freezing rain and snow fell.

Crews have been out with sand, salt and liquid deicer all day but in some parts to no avail.

A major problem has been highway one east and west of Moose Jaw where ice caused a few semi-trailers to jackknife throughout the day.

And Kirsten Leatherdale with the highways ministry says it remains slow going.

“Towing is still going on there are still vehicles in ditches where we've got tow trucks trying to get them out,” said Leatherdale. “So there are sections where traffic is down to one lane moving past.”
