WEATHER ALERT: Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin under tornado watch

Parts of the province are experiencing severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches enacted by Environment Canada.

Tornado watches are in place for Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin and Carrot River. These communities will likely experience severe thunderstorms with the possibility of tornadoes, large hail, rains that could cause floods, powerful winds and deadly lightning. 

Environment Canada reports that buildings and property should be secured if possible and that the extreme weather should be avoided possible by taking shelter in secure areas.

The communities under the thunderstorm warnings include the R.M. of Willow Creek, the R.M of Nipawin,  and the R.M. of Torch River.
