Man charged in Saskatoon’s fourth homicide appears in court

Jun 15, 2012 | 2:37 PM

The man charged in the death of Nicolaas Smith made his first court appearance today, the same day of his victim's funeral.

Arnold Halkett, 46, faces a second-degree murder charge after 29-year-old Smith was found dead in an apartment above Buds on Broadway on June 8.

An autopsy revealed Smith died from a stab wound.

Halkett's case was adjourned until June 26 as the judge wanted to give him time to consult with a duty counsel and talk about his legal rights.
