9th annual Street Fair this weekend

Jun 15, 2012 | 11:35 AM

Prince Albert’s 9th annual Street Fair is tomorrow and will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

James Banman, with Prince Albert’s Downtown Improvement District, said this is only one of two street fairs this summer.

Tomorrow’s Street Fair will be held in the downtown area of the city and will feature tons of activities.
Admission to the Street Fair is free.

“We’ve got live entertainment, sidewalk sales, lots of food, children’s activities; you know bouncy castles, that sort of thing. The SPCA will be showing up with a whole lot of puppies, so that will be really cool, right beside the international market which the multicultural center is holding. The Historical Society will also be doing a display right on Central Avenue,” Banman said.

The Historical Society will be making ice cream and butter, they will have a gramophone playing, and whatever else that would seem fitting for the Historical Society to do for a street fair.

“We’ve had huge success, most years we have anywhere between 4000 and 6000 people that come out. It’s just a great event for the community to gather together, have a great time and enjoy historic downtown,” said Banman.

The second Street Fair will be on July 28th, and Banman said they’ve changed the name up a little bit and it’s going to be called Main Street 1912.

The theme celebrates 100 years of success in Prince Albert.

“1912 is when a lot of our infrastructure and stuff was built, we were booming, and here we are 100 years later and we’re booming again,” Banman said.
