Fire mentorship program cancelled

paNOW has learned that the much-celebrated Fire Mentor Program has been cancelled.

At a union meeting in November, members of the Saskatchewan Professional Fire Fighters Association voted to cancel the program.

Union members said, they didn't have enough input into how the program was run.

The program helps at-risk youth in the community have a chance to help out with the fire fighters and attend a course in Vermillion, Alta.

The program had been prepping about 10 students for the program since September, but they won't have a chance to take part this year.
