Darian Durant extends deal with Roughriders

Apr 27, 2012 | 2:14 PM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have made sure Darian Durant is staying put.

The Riders and their starting quarterback have agreed to a deal to keep Durant in Green and White for the next three seasons.

The Riders also signed offensive lineman Chris Best to an extension through 2014 as well.

Durant has climbed to third in the majority of the major quarterbacking stats in team history and has led the team to Grey Cup appearances in 2009 and 2010.

“We’re extremely happy to have come to an agreement on terms with Darian,” stated G.M Brendan Taman in a release from the team. “The CFL is a quarterback driven league, and Darian has proven he can lead this team. This extension allows us to move forward with Darian as our starting quarterback and achieve the ultimate goal of bringing another Grey Cup back to Saskatchewan.”

Best has been the starting right guard of the Riders since 2009 and has solidified himself as one of the top young offensive linemen in the league. Best was the Roughriders nominee for Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 2011.
