Boy accused in care home crash released

A 15-year-old boy accused of driving a truck into a Prince Albert care home without a license was released from Prince Albert Provincial Court on an undertaking Wednesday.

The teen is charged with dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, following the Oct. 30 crash, which caused about $15,000 damage to the North View home on Southwood Drive.

According to police, the truck hit a car, before barreling through the corner of the care home. A fence and a neighbour's garage were also damaged.

Police said the accused borrowed the truck from his parents to drive people to a party.

Police also noted that a combination of high speeds, icy roads, and driver inexperience appeared to be factors in the collision.

The 15-year-old is scheduled back in court Dec.15.
