Shellbrook girl at Grey Cup via Chris Knox Foundation dies

Nov 29, 2010 | 3:45 PM

Eighteen-year-old Kaila Berg, one of those chosen to attend the Grey Cup game via the Chris Knox Foundation, lost her life while still in Edmonton.

Berg, who was from Shellbrook, went to the Grey Cup game with a group of young Saskatchewan people battling cancer. In a statement, her family says they're grateful for the incredible time they had with Kaila at the Grey Cup.

Chris Knox was a young Regina man battling cancer in 2007. Nurses at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic arranged with the Roughriders to have him see the Labour Day Classic.

Knox was befriended by the team. When there were more than enough funds to send him to the Grey Cup, Knox asked that other young people battling cancer get to go to the game as well. After his death, the Chris Knox Foundation was born.
