Manitoba to examine improper donation allegations against Sask Party

Jan 6, 2012 | 3:23 PM

The justice branch of the Manitoba government is set to determine if the Saskatchewan Party is prosecuted for an improper donation, after it forwarded some information on what the chief electoral officer called an improper donation several years ago.

These proceedings have been in the works for months, but on Friday it was decided to give the Manitoba government the go ahead, as the Saskatchewan government decided it can't objectively examine its own conduct.

The donation came from a college administrator who was also at the center of a failed merger between two schools in the Humboldt area.

The province was criticized of improper spending in the wake of that attempt.
