Coyotes seen in city limits

Jan 5, 2012 | 6:15 PM

Prince Albert has some furry guests that may not be welcome.

On Jan. 4, residents reported to city police that four very large coyotes were seen within the city limits.

They were spotted near the Waste Water Treatment Plant around First Street East and McIntosh Drive.

They were seen coming out of a bush just south of the plant on Rotary Trail.

Coyotes have also been spotted around Cooke Municipal Golf Course.

Suzie Stubbs, acting bylaw enforcement manager for Prince Albert, is encouraging residents to be extremely cautious when in those areas.

“Be prepared that if you’re going to walk your dog, or just do some walking, be careful,” she said.

She said if residents see any coyotes within the city limits to call the Bylaw Enforcement Office’s non-emergency number, 953-4222.

She added that people should definitely not be feeding them anything, or leaving garbage for them to eat out.
