Alberta grassfire has Sask. emergency team on their toes

An emergency response team in Saskatchewan is keeping an eye on the southwest corner of the province due to Alberta grassfires.

The grassfire crossed the border Wednesday near Maple Creek but Saskatchewan's Fire Safety Commissioner Duane McKay says things are under control.

“Last report, that fire had been extinguished. As a result though because of the weather conditions we are remaining in that particular area,” said McKay.

McKay says those conditions include a high of 13 C and winds gusting up to 80 km/h.
