Dyce named Roughriders offensive coordinator

Jan 4, 2012 | 6:10 AM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced who will be coaching the offense in 2012.

Bob Dyce has been promoted to offensive coordinator after two seasons serving as the receivers coach/pass game coordinator.

Under Dyce's direction the team has had four 1,000-yard receivers in the last two years with Weston Dressler reaching the mark twice with Andy Fantuz (2010) and Chris Getzlaf (2011) reaching the milestone for the first time in their careers.

Dyce will give up the receivers coach position and take over the running backs.

The team has also hired long time Stampeders offensive line coach Kris Sweet to be the team's run game coordinator and offensive line coach.

Sweet has spent five years with the Stampeders working with the offensive line. Their line has been one of the best in the CFL over that time, leading to Joffrey Reynolds and Jon Cornish becoming two of the best backs in the league.

Khari Jones has joined the Riders staff coach the quarterbacks. Jones, a former CFL all-star, was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offensive coordinator in 2011 after two seasons as their quarterbacks coach.

The offensive staff is completed with Jason Tucker making the move to Regina as the receivers coach. Tucker's fantastic career as a receiver ended prematurely in 2008 when he suffered a severe neck injury.

Tucker took up coaching in 2009 and again in 2010 as the receivers coach with the Edmonton Eskimos.
