Acid spill at Regina area business sends nine to hospital

Jan 3, 2012 | 11:26 AM

More than 60 employees were evacuated from an agricultural product plant east of Regina shortly after getting into work before 9 a.m.

It happened when a vat of acid started to melt.

“Somehow it melted through the container,” said Norbert Beaujot, owner of Seedmaster.

He says gallons of acid used for cleaning steel spilled out onto the work floor – and while it didn't touch anyone some of the employees are now being treated for inhalation of fumes.
