Mintos reach the semis at the Mac’s

Dec 31, 2011 | 1:26 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos quest for their first ever Mac's Tournament title remained alive Saturday with a gutsy 3-2 win over the Calgary Northstars in the quarter-finals.

It was the toughest test yet for the Mintos who went 4-0 during the round robin while outscoring the opposition 25-4.

The Mintos played from behind most of the game until late in the third when Adam Fauchoux and Matt Anholt scored 2:11 apart to give the Mintos their first lead of the game.

P.A. would hang on surviving a Michael Statchuk holding penalty in the final 1:29 to clinch the victory.
