Raiders stack the “Deck” against Moose Jaw

Nov 24, 2010 | 5:55 AM

Raider Co-Captain Nathan Deck makes his return to the line up tonight at home against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The durable three year veteran on the P.A. blueline has missed 12 games with a torn knee ligament suffered in an October 22nd game against Medicine Hat.  The Raiders won just twice in his abscence.

Deck says his time in the stands was made by more difficult by the team's struggles on the ice.  The 20 year old says the knee isn't 100% but expects it to get stronger as his ice time increases.  He also hopes to help kick start a team that has lost its last three home games.

The Raiders have only had all three 20 year old players healthy for just one period this season.  Defenseman Jordan Rowley suffered a broken wrist in a fight with former Blade Curt Gogol on opening night.  He missed 16 games, while Winger Igor Revenko will miss his seventh straight game with an abdominal area strain.

Meanwhile 18 year old Austin Bourhis remains out with a concussion, so the Raiders will miss the energy he provides from the big hits he has become known for.

18 year old defenseman Antoine Corbin also makes his Art Hauser Centre debut after getting two goals and two assists in the just completed three game weekend road trip to Lethbridge, Kootenay and Medicine Hat.

The Warriors added some size and grit to their front line last week picking up Cody Beach in a trade with Calgary.    The 6'6″ 188 pound winger has 5 goals and 14 assists in 19 games.

The Raiders are looking for their first win of the season over the Warriors.  Moose Jaw scored a 5-4 overtime win in Prince Albert on October 27th and fell 7-4 in a visit to the “crushed can” three nights later.

Opening face off tonight at the Art Hauser Centre is at 7 o'clock.  900 CKBI's Zepp Raider Hockey Broadcast starts at 6:30.
