Raiders start road trip with a win

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes played a tight match-up through two periods on Friday night in Lethbridge before a desperate Raiders team turned up the heat to post six third period goals and post a 9-3 win. The Cane came out of the gate well and notched the first goal of the evening as Austin Fyten, returning to the ENMAX centre ice for the first time since his injury October 8th in the Canes Home Opener, managed to make a nice move to put the puck in the crease as his billet roommate Alex Kuvaev tapped it home for his team leading 9th goal of the season. The Russian whiz kid now has 14 points to lead all Hurricanes rookies and his nine goals place him second among all rookies in the WHL goal scoring race. P.A. would battle back through the first and second as they took their first lead of the night near the midway point of the second on the power play before Max Ross responded for the Canes with his sixth of the year to tie things 2-2.

P.A. would answer back to take the lead for good with a 3-2 marker before the disastrous third period for the Canes. Russ Maxwell would score his second of the year but it was too little too late as the Canes skated to a 9-3 loss. Brandon Anderson had a tough game between the pipes as the Canes were out shot 48-37 on the night. The power play was 0 for 4 on the evening but it was the penalty kill which suffered as the Raiders capitalized on 4 of their 11 power plays on the night.
