The Regina Pats swept a weekend home-and-home series with Raiders with a come from behind 5-2 victory at the Brandt Centre on Sunday.

It started well for the Raiders who out shot the Pats 10-7 and had a 2-0 lead after the first period on a pair of goals from Brandon Herrod.

Herrod banked in a power play goal off the skate of a Pats defender at 15:48 and added a shorthanded goal two minutes later. Herrod who was the best player on the ice all night was relentless, stealing the puck behind the Regina net, surprising both the defender and goalie Matt Hewitt with a resounding wrap-around.

The Raiders were in full control of the game while getting big saves from Cole Holowenko until a string of penalties early in the second period turned the game around.

Coltan Jobke's goal on a 5-on-3 blast from the point at 4:32 of the second period was followed by the tying goal by Matt Maranz who stuffed home his own rebound on a wrap around about 4 minutes later.

It came on regina's sixth power play of the game.

Lane Scheidl who scored twice in the Pats 4-1 win Saturday night in Prince Albert, got the winner redirecting a Jobke shot from the boards at 11:27. Three unanswered goal in less than 8 minutes. On Saturday the Pats got three in a row in just over 3 minutes.

The Raiders pushed back but Hewitt stymied Herrod on a tap in attempt during a raider pentlty kill and Todd Fiddler was unable to bury two great opportunities before the end of the second period.

The Pats took over in the third period adding two more goals while outshooting the Raiders 16-4.

The Raiders faced twenty-two penalty kills during their three game in three night weekend. Although they only gave up 4 power play goals against and scored two shorthanded markers, it was a tiring task for several key players.

The Raider powerplay went 3-for-12 on the weekend, including 1-for-2 Sunday night in Regina.

The Raiders who have lost five of their last six find themselves five games under .500. Moose Jaw who sits in the final Eastern Conference playoff spot is one game above the break even point .

The Warriors who have also lost three in a row and host the Raiders on Wednesday.

The weekend will be reviewed tonight on 900 CKBI's “Face-off”. The shows tarts at 6pm.
