The Raiders suffered their second one goal loss of this U.S. road trip with a 2-1 setback to the Americans in Tri City.

The Raider penalty kill had to work overtime with success on 7-of-8 advantages, but Brian Williams' conversion of a back door pass late in the first period with the man advantage gave the Americans a 1-0 lead they carried into the last minute of the second period.

The Raiders were on the power play when Brendan Shinnimin scored an unassisted shorthanded goal after some miscommunication between Goalie Cole Holowenko and the Raider power play point men. The overager stuffed a low shot under Holowenko who lost the puck off the end of his stick. It was the lone blemish on a sensational 37 save night for the Raider netminder.

Just before Shinnimin's goal, Brandon Herrod was stopped point blank by American netminder Ty Rimmer during the P.A. power play.

However, the Raiders turned it on in the third pouring 16 shots on goal and another three off the post including a low snap shot by Herrod midway through the third. The Raiders would finally beat Rimmer when Shane Danyluk converted a Tyler Yaworski shot off the post at 17:51, but the Raiders would get no closer.

Tri City outshot the Raiders 39-30 and went 1-for-8 on the power play while the Raiders were 1-for-2 with the man advantage and gave up their fifth shorthanded goal of the season. One of their power plays was cut short by a Jonas Knutsen penalty. He was also in the box for Williams' power play goal.

The loss leaves the Raiders at 2-and-2 on the road trip and 3-6-0-1 overall. They return to action Friday night in Spokane before wrapping up the trek Saturday in Kootenay. Both games can be heard on 900 CKBI and 900ckbi.com beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Saskatchewan.
