Mintos win five in a row, beat Battlefords 5-2

The Prince Albert Mintos have now won five games in a row, defeating the Battlefords Stars 5-2 on the road Wednesday.

The Mintos scored by committee as Matt Anholt, Regan Wilton and Adam Fauchoux each had a goal and an assist while Ryan Duret Michael Statchuk also scoring.

Anholt is tied with fellow rookie forward and Brett Njaa for the team lead in points with 10 and third in league scoring.

Tyrell King got the win in goal for the Mintos, making 19 saves.

The five game streak puts the tied with the Beardy's Blackhawks for the top seed in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 5-1 record.

The Mintos have been stellar defensively as the Mintos lead the league in goals against average with 1.86.

Rookie goaltender Tanner Burgardt and Tyrell King have been very solid, with King getting the win Wednesday as has a stellar .931 save percentage in four games this season.

The Mintos have been able to score also, as rookie forwards Anholt and Brett Njaa are tied for third in league scoring with 10 points each. Adam Fauchoux is also in the top 10 in scoring with eight points.

The Mintos are back at home Sunday, facing off against the Notre Dame Hounds.
