City organizations rolling up sleeves

The Canadian Blood Services has launched their Partners for Life program across Canada and already different organizations have signed on to give blood donations and set annual goal donations for employees.

Several organizations in Prince Albert have now joined 190 organizations in the province and many more from throughout the rest of the country.

Vickie Chenier is a correctional officer at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, one of the groups in Prince Albert that has already donating.

“As a group we decided we wanted to do something to help out in the community,” said Chenier. “We could donate money but it’s so important to do something that maybe other people couldn’t do.”

Canadian Blood Services has set a goal of collecting 180 donations from members in Prince Albert by the end of the year. So far, embers in the city have already given 129 donations.

It’s a very realistic goal according to Jennifer Dareichuck with the Canadian Blood Services.

“Five partner organizations already signed up and were looking for more in the community,” Dareichuck said.

The five organizations are the First Nation University of Canada Northern Campus, Prince Albert Police Service, Saskatchewan Penitentiary, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, and the Ministry of Highways.
