Busy Second Ave intersection reduced

The city has closed reduced the number of lanes on one its busiest intersections to do some much-needed road repairs.

For at least two weeks, the intersection of 28th Street and Second Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction. City crews are repaving the roads with blacktop and will use concrete for the actual intersection is order to extend its life.

Traffic along 28th Street West will be closed on either side of the construction to all but local traffic, as will streets along Second Avenue West.

This will prevent drivers from making left turns onto 28th Street from either direction and the city has set up detour signage to accommodate traffic.

As well, anyone attempting to haul a wide load is required to contact the city’s public works department in order to determine a suitable route.
