He's remembered for a life of political leadership in Saskatchewan and in Prince Albert.
David Steuart passed away this weekend at age of 94.
Steuart was elected mayor for two terms in the 1950s. He later took on the role of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party Leader.
“I think Prince Albert is saddened over the weekend to hear of Dave Steuart’s passing,” Mayor Jim Scarrow said.
Though people remember Steuart’s good sense of humor, Scarrow said they should also remember his great leadership skills.
“His ability to lead, to bring people to consensus to develop the city of Prince Albert at a time when we were very very challenged in terms of a great deal of infrastructure that was required and that required good leadership skills.”
Steuart was responsible for such accomplishment as the Pulp mill in Prince Albert, improving the forestry industry.
“Among other accomplishments that was one that he can certainly claim,” Scarrow said.
Steuart died of natural causes in Kelowna on Friday night leaving behind two children and three grandchildren.
