Life at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert is now a bit more fun for children.
Three Wii gaming systems have been donated to the Children's Ward by the Starlight Children's Foundation and Cineplex Odeon.
Erika Streich, with Starlight Children’s Foundation, said it’s all about providing entertainment to children who need it the most.
“It’s a past time, to have a fun outlet and to make the hospital experience a little bit better,” she said explaining why the systems are so beneficial.
The units are specifically designed for hospital use. The games are downloaded so the kids don't have to get up to change them, they are on wheels so they can be transported from room to room and they're easy to keep clean and sterilize.
Jane Antoine, nursing unit manager, is a huge fan of them.
“It’s great for the staff to come and bring something fun into the room rather than a needle ‘oh here I’m giving you a needle or changing a dressing,’ it’s ‘oh here I’m bring you something fun,” Antoine said.
The hospital received three units. they cost $5,000 each.
