Stolen truck plows into Saskatoon apartment building

Police in Saskatoon have arrested a 13-year-old girl after a stolen pickup truck careened into an apartment complex on the east end of 8th Street.

The half-ton truck plowed into the building on the 3700-block of 8th Street East just before 4 a.m. Saturday. It lodged itself several feet into the apartment.

There were people in the suite at the time, but fortunately no one was hurt.

The person driving the truck ran away before police arrived. But the K-9 unit was called in and tracked down a suspect.

A 13-year-old girl who cannot be named is charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, failing to stay at the scene of an accident, and other counts under the Traffic Safety Act.
