Farmers are parking their harvesting equipment for the season now that almost the entire crop is in the bin.
Ninety-nine per cent of the 2010 crop has been harvested, which represents no change over the previous week.
Saskatchewan Agriculture's Grant McLean said in most cases the remaining acres are too wet to support heavy equipment.
“And in some cases if the crop is deteriorated … individuals are going to make a decision to either harvest those acres — or use them in some other manner in livestock feed or something else,” he said.
McLean said crop yields are average to above average, however the quality is below average.
Some crops did do well in what McLean describes as a challenging growing season. The majority of flax, canola and mustard crops are predicted to be in the top grade according to a release from the provincial government.
